How Do We Raise Our Children in Today’s World?
Lately, I’ve been reflecting a lot on what it really means to raise a child. As parents we all want to do what's best for our children—but the path isn't always clear. In my case, I have a 7-year-old son with a very strong-willed, stubborn Level Devil - NOT A Troll Game personality. He’s smart, curious, full of energy… but some days, it feels like we’re constantly clashing.
No one gives you a manual when you become a parent. There are moments when I truly wonder:
Am I being too strict… or not firm enough?
How do I set boundaries without crushing his spirit?
When do I push him, and when do I let him figure things out on his own?
💬 Parenting Isn’t One-Size-Fits-All
Every child is different. What works for one might not work for another. But one thing I’m learning is that stubbornness isn’t always a bad thing—it can mean a child knows what they want, is learning to assert themselves, and might grow into a strong, independent thinker.
Still, it can be exhausting, especially during emotional meltdowns or constant back-and-forth over simple things like brushing teeth or getting ready for school.
👣 I’m Learning as I Go, But I’d Love Help…
I’m always looking for new ways to communicate better, to discipline with love, to be patient (even when it’s really hard), and to make sure my son feels supported and understood—even when we disagree.
So I’m reaching out to other parents:
How do you handle strong-willed children?
What has worked for you when your child refuses to listen or challenges every rule?
Whether it’s routines, rewards, natural consequences, or mindset shifts—I'm open to learning.
💛 Raising children is one of the most beautiful and challenging journeys in life. I believe we grow just as much as our kids do. If you're a parent going through something similar, you're not alone.
Let’s support each other.
