Is it worth investing in an Italian sofa? Share your experience!

Hi all! I'm thinking about updating my living room and have been looking at Italian sofas - especially sectionals. Has anyone bought one? How are they in terms of comfort, durability and maintenance? I'd like to know if they are really worth the money or if they are just a brand for the sake of a brand.
